How to Participate

1. Eligibility
You are eligible to participate in CHEERS if you have not been on or in any body of water except a pool in the last 48 hours, and if you have not enrolled in CHEERS is the last 21 days. If you are eligible, you sign a consent form and receive a CHEERS wristband.

2. Consent & First Survey
In order for us to protect your information, you receive a wristband with a unique identifying number. Then, you take a short survey, requiring only 2-3 minutes of your time.

3. Final Survey & Incentives
When finished with your activities, you return to the CHEERS table for a 6-7 minute survey. Then, you receive a CHEERS t-shirt and a $15 Target gift card.

4. Three Telephone Interviews
You will receive three follow-up telephone surveys at 2, 5 and 21 days after the initial surveys. Some people may be asked to volunteer a stool sample. Each telephone interview takes about 5-10 minutes.

5. Final Step
After completing the telephone surveys, you will receive a $35 check in the mail.
